We are having an issue with the application of a new screen saver via GP.

The package deployed is a full version of a scr file. It was version 1.8 and new file is the same except ver 1.9. The deployment was successfull as the 1.9 version of the file is sitting in system32. In GP under display and screen saver executable name it did have the path "%windir%\system32\***_v18.scr" We changed the the 8 to a 9 and that was it. Now the screen saver shows as none in display properties (xp sp2) After 10 minutes when it should start 1.8 executes. I removed a all previous sreen savers and left 1.9 and it did nothing after 10 minutes. The current user in registry shows the file as the default windows sreen saver, logon.scr

Any ideas? We ran gpresults.exe /v and it shows that the over GP policy that this is part of was applied.

Did you try changing the name in all the locations within the user's registry where their screensaver information has been recorded? It's in like 3 or 4 places I think. Maybe if you change all references so they're the same it'll kick in...
