I would keep the SCCM client off of the image but manage the patching of your workstation either weekly or monthly. The reason I have an issue with keeping the SCCM client on the workstation is that it would be difficult to ensure that when you are sequencing that the SCCM client isn't performing an update to the system and this would put unecessary data inside the sequence. The suggestion on turning off antivirus would reduce the chance that antivirus conflicts with the sequencing process but I don't think it is a reality when it comes to your corporate security policy. I have seen antivirus significantly slow down the sequencing process but I would not say that you must turn it off. I would recommend checking your sequence for the virus definition files because it often will be captured as part of the sequencing process if you are using virtual machine with snapshots.
