OK, this may be a silly post but if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. We want to have a better way of managing our software liscenceing. I know SMS can give me a report etc... which is one part. What i would also like to do is to have some way of managing the approval for the software to be installed in the first place. Generally what would happen is an employee would request something like Visio, the manager would approve and say charge the cost of the liscence to this code and then we would push the package to the client.
Is there anyway i can store that within SMS so that we have a record of that trail? I basically want something that says Approved software, manager, code.
I know this probably isn't possible but it would be nice if there was some way to tie it all in and not have multiple registers for approved installations and other details.

You are talking about a shopping tool. There's two vendors I can think of right away that offer that, 1e and sccmexpert. Check them both out; I'm sure they'll be happy to invite you to a webinar demo or discuss their products. I apologize if I missed other shopping tools.

wow, i didn't realize these things existed. Thanks for that. I don't suppose you know you would have a rough idea how much they charge for the product?

Nope, sorry. I think the last time I got a quote for 1 of those products was over 2 years ago. I recall it was a reasonable per-client cost, but I don't remember the actual number. And what's a reasonable cost to me might not be for someone else's company. I know people at both companies, they'll be glad to set up demos and (I'm sure!) discuss cost.
