deploying application updates to the client

I have create an application and deployed it to a test pc. I want to make updates to the msi and then redistribute it out to all the clients with the updates. When I do that nothing happens on the client. The app shows installed in the client software center but that it and there is no change. What am I doing wrong here

      If you are using  Applications in SCCM 2012, the behavior is likely because of your detection rule.  Even if you deploy the application again to the workstations, it will not run the installer if it already passes the detection rule for the deployment type.
       
      Change your detection rule to include the version so that computers with the old version don't still succeed when evaluating the updated Application/Deployment Types's detection rule.
