Moving MDT setup from an environment to another one Monday, June 02, 2014 9:08 AM (permalink)

Hi,

I need to add drivers, KB and new software in my MDT. The server names and locations are differents in my test environment. Once everything will be fine and working, would it be possible to transfer the new setup to the production environment? Is it a way to make it easier?

Thanks,

    Hi fracine,
There is any easy way to do this to me. In MDT look at the Advanced Configurations then look at Link Deployment Share. SO what you need to to do is a fresh install of MDT on the prod server. Then go to the old server or test server and create a link deployment share to that new server. It will copy over all drivers, apps, tq, etc. One thing it does not copy are the RULES (custom settings.ini) so you manually have to do that.
    Have fun  :)

      Hi,

Interesting. Would it be correct to just copy and edit the xml and copy the app and oob directories?
I mean editing because the server names are different.

      Thanks,

I would get off the 2008 version of MDT. Really old stuff.

          Hi,

Me too but the management will do so when we will migrate to SCCM 2012.

          Thanks,

One thing I recommend is installing MDT 2013 intergration on the SCCM 2012 server. This gives you better Task Sequences and boot images. I also recommend using MDT 2013 to make your custom images because it is faster and provides compatibility.

              Hi,

Is it any guidelines to be able making ZTI successfully in a organisation?

              Thanks,
