cannot access source files on new file server Thursday, July 17, 2014 4:30 AM (permalink)

Hi,
  I have a file server for IT which is the source for all the packages in SCCM. The existing server is server 2003 physical & the new server 2012 R2 Virtual. I have created the shares and security permissions exactly the same but if I set the source to the new server for a package it fails to distribute.

Distmgr.log
The source directory \\Server\share doesn't exist or the SMS service cannot access it, Win32 last error = 5
SnapshotPackage() failed. Error = 0x80004005
Failed to process package LAN000BE after 36 retries, will retry 64 more times

What account is used to access the file server?

      Does the Site Server computer account have read access to the share and folders?

        Site server had security permissions but not to the share. Rectified that and problem solved. I was under the impression it used the network access account to access shares not the SCCM server computer account.
