how to install SCCM console on WSUS/SUP server Tuesday, July 24, 2012 10:11 AM (permalink)

I have WSUS and the SUP role installed on a separate server, not on the SCCM Primary site server. I want to download the Software Updates to the WSUS/SUP server. I believe I need to have the SCCM 2007 Admin console installed on the WSUS/SUP server to accomplish this. When I attempt to install the SCCM Admin console on the WSUS/SUP serve I receive an error "Setup has detected that this computer is a site system for an existing site. Configuration Manager components cannot be installed on this computer" Is there a way to install the SCCM from the command line with a switch that would allow the console to install or is there another install method that would work?

You cant have the server already using the SUP role. you have to remove the SUP role first then install the console and re-add the SUP role back.

      Hi,
There is no need to install the ConfigMgr console on the WSUS box. When WSUS is installed on a separate server and we want to use it as a SUP so just we have to install the WSUS console on the ConfigMgr server, adding the ConfigMgr computer account in the admin group on the WSUS server (or using a user account which is an admin on the WSUS server when installing the SUP role) then installing the SUP role. Note that WSUS should be without any configuration, all should be done from ConfigMgr.
