Password Hash

Hello Everyone, I hope I'm not creating a new thread in the wrong forum, but general is general. I'm actually looking for a little help. I have an assignment in my cyber security class, that entails breaking a password. We are suppose to unlock a protected spread sheet with Cain & Able and show our instructor the contents of the spread sheet. I guess in the legitimate world they call this, "Password Recovery." The problem I'm having is locating the MD5 Hash for the spread sheet to put into Cain & Able. The best I can do at this point, is open the document in a hex editor to view in a hash-binary mode. I just wouldn't even know where in the discombobulated mess of data to look for the password hash. Honestly, I'm not even really sure if viewing it in a hex editor is the right way to go. I'll try and upload a screen shot of the results. But I'll be much obliged to anyone who can point me in the right direction, even if it's another way. P.S. I can't upload a screen shot of the hex editor, b/c there's a 200 kb cap

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m trying to clean up older posts that are unanswered. Did you ever figure this out?
