Missing SMS Unique Identifier in SMSCFG.ini

I have identified a number of SCCM clients that have mysteriously had the SMS Unique Identifier deleted from the SMSCFG.ini. This is causing my task sequences not to function as explained at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/3a93cd4c-ec24-4eaa-a30f-3237c9042917/. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to repopulate the current SMS Unique identifier into the SMSCFG.ini? I have tried to delete the SMSCFG.ini and restart the service, but it doesnt help. I have also tried a reinstallation of the client. I would like to avoid creating new guids because I appear to have a large number of these to fix. Your help and ideas are appreciated!!

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m trying to clean up older posts that are unanswered. Did you ever figure this out?
