OSD errors out with SSD, fine with regular HDD Tuesday, May 01, 2012 12:39 PM (permalink)

A few weeks ago I finished a new task sequence and base image and have been testing it on a machine with an SSD.  It was working absolutely fine until I went to MMS, and then I got an email inquiring why that machine wouldn't image with a new SSD.  My suggestions were to try a different drive, get me the logs and then we would go from there.

Another SSD didn't work, but throwing in a regular hard drive worked fine. That SSD in any other machine also would continually fail.  The failure would come when we began installing packages, we got through installing the OS, drivers, installing forefront, the client, creating win recovery partition, installing microsoft games, and adobe reader flash air and shockwave. Then it would begin to fail on installing computrace. I disabled that, and the next program would fail, microsoft lync. Disabled that, and the lenovo laptop software would all begin to fail.

I'm at a loss as to what could be the problem here, I admit I don't know much about the inner workings/differences between SSD's and HDDs, but I would imagine that this shouldn't be an issue.  We've tried crucial, intel, and kingston to no avail.  The first error in my log is:

Error getting system isolation info. Code 8027000C TSManager 5/1/2012 10:39:56 AM 3456 (0x0D80)ComputeComplianceAndRemediate(&QState), HRESULT=8027000c (e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\client\tasksequence\napcontrol\tsnapcontrol.cpp,173) TSManager 5/1/2012 10:39:56 AM 3456 (0x0D80)Remediation failed. Code 8027000C TSManager 5/1/2012 10:39:56 AM 3456 (0x0D80)hr = m_oNapCtrl.Remediate(QState), HRESULT=8027000c (e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\client\tasksequence\tsmanager\tsmanager.cpp,1765) TSManager 5/1/2012 10:39:56 AM 3456 (0x0D80)Remediation failed with error code 8027000C TSManager 5/1/2012 10:39:56 AM 3456 (0x0D80)

And I can't find any information regarding that and SSD failures. There isn't another error in the log until it tries to install our package of Citrix + Screwdrivers (which actually gets installed on the machine, so I don't know why it's claiming it errored out, looking in Control Panel and trying to run the programs works.)

So I suppose my question is has anyone had any issues with SSDs messing up the task sequence and an OSD?

Sorry, I haven't seen any similar issues with SSD's
