Hi all,

I guess my driver integration is working a little too well. I built my gold image on a laptop, cleaned it all up, with the exception of the synaptics mouse driver (touchpad). I've since uninstalled it, and re-created my gold wim file, but when I apply the image I'm still seeing it installed on my desktops (no touchpad). The driver shows a system tray icon, and specifies that it's disabled, as expected. However, I have removed the specified driver files from the .wim file along with program files\synaptics, removed the driver from my out-of-the-box drivers list in BDD, and somehow the bugger is still loading on my desktops! What's odd, is if I just do a straight source install of XPSP2, the drivers still load on my desktops!

So does anyone know how to completely neuter a driver in Windows XP, or know why this particular driver insists on being loaded?

The tested desktops so far are an HP dc5750, and 5150.

Thanks!

If you're using BDD/MDT with a ResourceRoot DP make sure you manually delete the contents of the DP's folder and then do a full Update.

Otherwise, maybe you need to remove the "C:\Windows\INF\Oem*.inf (and OEM*.pnf) files within the .WIM image?

Just two fast thoughts...
