MMS gave us probably the best SWAG of all. This little piece of heaven was all the rage and all the talk at MMS. You could walk down any hallway near a group of MMS attendees and hear, "Man -- did you see that bag??!!!" And, who remembers the sound the wheels made on the walkway between the hotel and the conference area? When attendees were rushing to their sessions, it sounded like a herd of wild buffalo.

Microsoft really out-did themselves with the MMS 2005 Roller bag. It spoiled folks. When attendees showed up to MMS 2006, they expected the same, but were sorely dissapointed. What made it really unique was that it could convert from a roller back to a backpack in a matter of seconds. This made it extremely handy, and also easy to check-in at the airport for the ride back. A lot of attendees used it to store things they purchased in Vegas for family and friends and also to store the huge amount of vendor SWAG they collected, and still be able to carry it all home on the airplane ride as a carry-on item.
NOTE: There are couple versions of this bag, given out at different MMS's. The one posted here is from MMS 2005, but the cream of the crop was given out at MMS 2003 or 2004 (we're working with the MMS historians on this one). Pictures and information on that version are coming.

What do you use yours for?
Here are some posts from folks that are still using their MMS Roller bag or have pleasant memories of it.

admin@myITforum.comCharlie Heavner's has become a trusty
gig bag containing an array of guitar and amp cables, pedals, and picks.
April Cook gave her's to her son when he went off to college. He nearly cried when he wore out the backpack this past summer !
Michael Schultz (Microsoft Consultant) has been using his ever since he got it and says that it’s perfect. It fits in the overhead compartment perfectly, tons of space, and durable as all getout. He said he's going to be upset when it finally succumbs.
Carmen Asher says, "I just wanted to drop you a line to share that I love my MMS 2005 Swag bag. Since picking it up at MMS I have used it constantly for overnight travel. I can pack clothes and computer all in one place. This nice handy bag is great because I can put it on my back or roll it and I think that is the big value for me when traveling. This bag is also great because it can fit either in the overhead or under the seat in front of you. I just love it!!!!"
Joseph Adamson says, "I still use mine every day, not for anything exotic but just to carry my laptop. Pre this bag I’d literally gone through dozens of bags never quite happy with any of them. This one is very close to being perfect. It is just the right size and actually helps me keep my accessories organized (no small feat, ask my wife!). It is starting to look a little ratty and I don’t know what I am going to do when the strap breaks (one shoulder sling is my favorite carry position when in-town)
It’s easily the best thing I’ve ever gotten from Microsoft free or otherwise. It almost beats Ballmer’s keynote and the wall of fire!"
Brian Barrington (Premier Field Engineer for Microsoft) says, "I still use my MMS 2003 roller bag to lug stuff around. I don’t use it for work anymore (I got a Swiss roller bag now) but I still play geeky RPG’s with some friends now and then and the bag comes in hand carrying all those books around! I bet you won’t get a weirder response than that...
