BDD 2007 - Introduction to ZTI

Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) is a very powerful and very flexible set of scripts and components. In this portion of the guide we are going to do just the bare minimum to get it functioning. We will cover configuration options and other features in the ZTI Configuration Guide.

Before you proceed you should have installed the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack Update on your SMS Primary server and created a SMS Client Application in the workbench.

We are going to do quite a few things in this section.
First we are going to import WindowsPE 2005 into the workbench
Then we will update the WindowsPE Files in OSD and add NIC Drivers so our Capture CD will work.
Then we will build a reference image and capture it.
Then we import the captured image into the workbench so we can create a SMS OSD Deployment point.
We create the Deployment Point.

Now as crazy as it sounds we have done all of this work just to be able to capture the Generic_OSD_x86.iso file.
Next we will create some shares and set permissions.
Then we create and OSD package and program and configure the options (just for OSd - not for ZTI).
Then we test our work and see if we have it functional.
