To run the task sequence and packages, and capture the resulting reference image:
- Boot from CD or iso image
- Click next to use DHCP or set network settings
- If using a web service page to add unknown computers to ConfigMgr and the proper collection, that web page will be displayed at this point. NOTE: if you get an error that no task sequences are found, reboot the computer. The second time the computer will be in the collection and task sequence will be found. This is NOT fixed in the latest release of MDT 2008.
- Policy settings are retrieved from server
- Select desired task sequence
- Actions will be checked
- Tasks are then executed
- If x86 boot was used, first action will be another boot, NOT from CD
- No further admin actions are required until image capture is complete or error occurs
- After image is captured, machine boots to OS install that can be canceled
- Import image into SCCM:
- Right click on Operating System Images, select Add Operating System Image
