Coping with Spam
has been a major issue, since the dawn of email. Conceptually it's not new, because before electronic mail, we were staturated with "junk mail". At least with spam we might save a few trees and other resources from the post office.
Spam is still a major email and security issue. There are costs associated with handling and temporarily storing this unwanted email. Even worse, some folks fall for the gimics or other "free lunches" offered. Do you really think complete strangers are going to offer you something for free from the Internet?
