myITforum Poll: Are you a single-point of failure for Patch Management? |
 |
4/29/2004 Richard Threlkeld made an interesting comment on the SMS email discussion list that definitely warrants getting input on.
======================== I've found the amount of OoO responses that I get sent to me recently when replying to many email lists, especially ones for Patch Management, sparked an interesting thought: Are these people that are OoO the only ones in their organizations capable of patching? Isn't that why they are on the lists? For many SMS Administrators I wouldn't be surprised if they were the single point of failure for this process where many are the only ones that have rights to create a package in SMS. This is a problem if so in today's day and age of x-day exploits when you get sick or are on vacation, etc..
Are you or another in your company (if you are using SMS or not) a single point of failure for Patch Management, or do you have process and training for others built in that allow others to pick up and be effective when you are out?
